We’re excited to announce the launch of GenOER.org — a new experiment in how AI can help educators create, remix, and share Open Educational Resources (OER).

GenOER is built around a simple idea: what happens when we bring generative AI into the OER workflow? The platform explores ways AI can:
- Generate draft quizzes, lessons, and study materials to save time for educators
- Suggest revisions and improvements to existing OER
- Support remixing and adaptation across contexts, languages, and levels
At its core, GenOER isn’t about replacing educators — it’s about sparking ideas, lowering barriers to content creation, and experimenting with new ways to keep OER growing.
Why GenOER?
Open education has always thrived on collaboration, creativity, and sharing. But creating high-quality, reusable resources takes time. By experimenting with AI, we hope to learn how automation can support — not replace — the human creativity and expertise that make open education so powerful.
What’s Next
GenOER is early, experimental, and evolving. We’ll be adding new generation tools, refining workflows, and inviting feedback from educators, researchers, and the open education community.
If you’d like to try it out or share ideas, visit GenOER.org and let us know what you think. Together, we can explore how AI might shape the next chapter of OER.
