At Learnful Labs, we believe everyone deserves equitable access to learning. We’re committed to creating inclusive, accessible, and user-friendly digital experiences for all learners, educators, and collaborators—regardless of ability or access needs.

Accessibility is a core part of our mission to support open and adaptable education, and we actively work to meet recognized standards including WCAG 2.1 Level AA, AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act), and other relevant guidelines.

Our Approach to Accessibility

We design and develop our platforms with accessibility in mind from the start. Our approach includes:

  • Inclusive Design Principles: Our tools are designed to support screen readers, keyboard navigation, and responsive layouts.
  • Semantic HTML & ARIA Labels: We structure content in a meaningful way to improve compatibility with assistive technologies.
  • Keyboard and Focus Navigation: We test to ensure full navigation without a mouse.
  • Color Contrast and Text Resizing: We meet or exceed minimum contrast ratios and ensure text remains legible when zoomed or resized.
  • Continuous Testing: We regularly audit our platforms using automated tools and manual reviews with assistive tech (e.g. NVDA, VoiceOver).

Our Commitment

We believe that education and innovation should be accessible to everyone. Our goal is to create tools, content, and services that are:

  • Robust – Content is compatible with current and future assistive technologies.
  • Perceivable – Information and user interface components are presented in ways that users can recognize and understand.
  • Operable – Interface functionality is available via multiple input methods and navigable by all users.
  • Understandable – Information and operation of the user interface is clear and consistent.

We aim to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards in our design, development, and testing processes.

Ongoing Efforts

Learnful Labs is continuously working to improve accessibility by:

  • Incorporating accessibility into our design and development processes
  • Training our teams on accessible practices and inclusive design
  • Engaging with users and educators to identify and resolve accessibility barriers
  • Conducting regular audits and usability testing with assistive technologies
