We’re proud to share a major milestone from one of our most impactful partnerships: LibreStudio, the open H5P authoring platform we built in collaboration with the LibreTexts project, has now surpassed 25,000 openly licensed H5P resources.

Since launching in 2023, LibreStudio has become a hub for educators and instructional designers across more than 300 schools in North America. Today, over 1500 active users are contributing interactive content across disciplines — from nursing and chemistry to language learning and the humanities.

At Learnful, we believe in building tools that put educators in control. LibreStudio is one of those tools.

What Is LibreStudio?

LibreStudio is an open-source, institution-friendly platform for creating and sharing interactive learning objects using H5P — a format known for enabling rich, accessible web-based content like quizzes, simulations, interactive videos, and more.

The platform is part of the broader LibreTexts ecosystem, and is fully integrated into their open textbook infrastructure. This means that every interactive object created in LibreStudio can be directly embedded into OER textbooks, LMS platforms, and course websites — extending the reach of open content and improving the learning experience for thousands of students.

Why We Built It

We built LibreStudio to solve a growing challenge in OER creation: educators needed a secure, open, and collaborative space to create and manage interactive content — without relying on commercial services or centralized hosting.

LibreStudio was designed from day one to be:

At its core is Learnful’s OER Studio platform, a flexible and extensible foundation we’ve developed to support public infrastructure for teaching and learning.
